Meet the Developers

We have a great team of experienced professionals, collectively carrying over 50 years of real estate development experience.  We are confident this project will be successful, financially stable and meet timeline expectations.

Detra L. Harris, Founder, and Principal of Strive Real Estate LLC, is a Bay Area native, locally born and raised in San Francisco, CA. She is a multi-business owner, a Realtor, a real estate investor, landlord, property manager, and a mentor that carries over 30 years of experience in the real estate industry. Her management portfolio includes over 15,000 units of conventional and affordable housing communities collectively, 128 Million in asset management. Her completed development and rehab projects include 64 new development units and 105 rehab units. 

William Bradshaw is in the process of launching Reimagine Fund, and this is one of his first projects in that capacity. Prior to that he was co-founder and president of Green Coast Enterprises. He also teaches real estate development at the Tulane University School of Architecture. Will has been named an Echoing Green fellow for 2008-10, one of Gambit Magazine’s “40 under 40” for 2009, one of Fast Company’s “10 Coolest Innovators Rebuilding New Orleans” and one of “America’s Most Promising Social Entrepreneurs” by Business Week. President Obama named him a Champion of Change in 2011.Prior to founding Green Coast, he helped plan and/or develop over $150 million in projects in North Carolina, Louisiana, Texas, and Massachusetts. 

Imelba Martinez is a Real Estate Professional who connects key investors with key real estate opportunities. She brokers and closes complex deals and also consults on project management services. A licensed real estate professional with over 15 years’ real estate and 10 years’ community development experience revitalizing low-to-moderate income communities within Affordable Housing Homeownership programs.  Mrs. Martinez received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Hofstra University. She is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated and Jack and Jill of America Inc.

The development team purposes to refurbish and renovate the building ensuring the historical and original designs are preserved. Our approach includes community involvement and extensive outreach to collect preferences on the reuse of the building. Our initial proposal includes a supportive housing model to include affordable housing units, a navigation center, support services, in addition to a commercial kitchen that serves disadvantaged families and individuals.

The building footprint is 12,384 SF, sufficient to propose 12 units (Building 1), 31 units (Building 2), 8 private rooms (navigation center), 1 commercial kitchen, 1 multipurpose room, and 3 offices.

Project Overview

Our housing model includes a supportive and affordable housing community, serving the homeless, at-risk of homelessness and low-income households. Supportive housing not only resolves homelessness and increases housing stability, but also improves health and lowers public costs by reducing the use of publicly-funded crisis services, including shelters, hospitals, psychiatric centers, jails, and prisons.

This housing model improves housing quality, services, and neighborhood conditions for at-risk households, individuals and lower-income residents. Program types include affordable units, emergency shelter, transitional housing, rapid rehousing, and permanent housing counseling.

Supportive housing, a highly effective strategy that combines affordable housing with intensive coordinated services, can provide that needed assistance to the most vulnerable people with mental illness, chronic health conditions, histories of trauma, and other struggles. A home helps them to get adequate treatment and start on the path toward recovery.

The Neighborhood: Clinton is the Northern portion of Alameda County with a population of 9,195 citizens, a median age range of 35.6, and 44% families with children. This community is considered one of the lowest income communities in Oakland, however, the demographics are changing rapidly due to its close proximity to Oakland Lake Merritt, Downtown Oakland.
